FABER BS H2O

BS H2O is a special water-repellent emulsion made with reactive resins dissolved in water. Its special formulation, specifically developed to be applied on the bottom of the tiles and slabs, creates a protective membrane that prevents humidity from rising through the material, without however, affecting its original breathability and at the same time, increasing the adherence between the treated material and the adhesives used to install it.

BS H2O is used as a back treatment before installing any of those materials subject to rising humidity and all of the problems linked to it. BS H2O is always used in combination with a Faber pre-installation treatment applied to 5 sides (top+edge) to guarantee maximum protection and perfect adherence with any type of bonding agent.

BS H20 can also be used as a bonding additive together with cement-based products to create mortar with the best possible chemical and mechanical resistance and adherence, even to old surfaces in bad condition.

  •  Water-based product
  •  Specific back treatment solution
  •  Protects material from rising damp
  •  Prevents the formation of salts and efflorescence
  •  Prevents oxidation reactions
  •  Ensures optimum adherence between adhesives and the treated surface
  •  Ideal as an additive for cement mortar
  •  Blocks rising damp but allows vapour breathability

This product can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces.

Preparing and cleaning the surface

1. Carefully clean the surface, making sure to remove any dust or dirt present.

2. Never apply BS H2O to wet surfaces. The product can be used on slightly damp surfaces;
nonetheless, please ensure that the surface to be treated is as dry as possible.

3. Apply BS H2O to surfaces with a temperature of between +5 and +40°C

Application as back treatment

This operation is generally carried out in the factory or on site, including a short period from
material installation. Usually, material for laying is treated during the “dry laying” stage, which is frequently used as it allows the position of each single piece to be assessed. Alternatively, we
recommend laying out the material on a clean, dry area that is large enough to treat the natural
stone slabs or tiles.

The natural stone pre-treatment stage using Faber Chimica solutions starts from the upper
surface of the material (top) and then the sides (edges), followed, after the product used for the
top and sides has dried, with the under-face, which will be in contact with the glue (bottom),
where BS H2O will be applied.

4 After treating the 5 sides (top+edge) with the best possible product for the type of material,
and after turning over the dry tile/slab, apply a layer of BS H2O to the underface, taking care to
cover the whole surface.

Drying time for pre-installation (back) treatment.

Wait around 15-30 minutes for the product to dry before handling the material: it is necessary
to wait at least 24 hours before installation.
