SAFE MARBLE is a water-based treatment specifically devised and developed to increase surface grip on marble, travertine, limestone and lime-based floors, removing the problems linked to their slippery surfaces. SAFE MARBLE is a unique product that solves the problems of slipping on lime-based materials, which, in view of their nature, are usually difficult to treat
SAFE MARBLE is acts directly on the surface of the material to which it is applied, creating micro-erosions that are invisible to the naked eye and which boost the run-off of water to increase surface grip and therefore reduce slipping in wet conditions, either with footwear or bare feet.
SAFE MARBLE also leaves the treated surface with good water-repellent properties; it is easy to apply and when the instructions and timeframe provided for the correct use are followed, SAFE MARBLE will not alter the colour of the material treated.

Preparing and cleaning the surface
1. Carefully clean the surface, making sure to remove any dust or dirt present.
2. Never apply SAFE MARBLE to wet or damp surfaces. The product must be applied to surfaces
that are as dry as possible.
3. Apply SAFE MARBLE during the coolest periods of the day.
4. Do not treat with SAFE MARBLE if the flooring is exposed to direct sunlight.
5. Apply SAFE MARBLE to surfaces with a temperature of between +5 and +40°C
6. Any adjacent surfaces not being treated with the product must be protected.
7. Remove all pre-existing treatments – e.g., wax, resin, etc., etc. – from the surface to be
treated. To get the most from this treatment, it is important for SAFE MARBLE to enter into
direct contact with the surface of the material to be made non slip.
Application
Considering the vast variety of materials that may require non-slip treatment, and which are all
different in terms of composition, resistance and surface hardness, to get the maximum results
in terms of non-slip quality, without changing the original appearance of the material, it is
necessary to carry out a preliminary test to identify the best possible contact time between the
surface and SAFE MARBLE. The test is carried out before proceeding to apply the treatment
over the whole surface, on a piece of material that has not been laid, or which is located in a
concealed area.
In general, the best time intervals can be summed up as follows:
– Limestone, soft marbles and soft lime-based surfaces: leave for 10-20 min
– Hard, compact lime-based surfaces 15-30 minutes
If, after 30 minutes of contact, the result is not satisfactory, we recommend proceeding until the
required level is reached, proceeding in 10-minute intervals.
These times are based on our widest level of technical and operating experience; however, they
are purely a guideline and must only be used as a reference time when performing the
preliminary test.
The non-slip quality achieved during the preliminary test must be assessed after a thorough
rinse with plenty of water at the end of product application, to prevent any residues from giving
an incorrect idea of the result.
The assessment of the results must follow these simple but essential indications:
– Assess the test area in wet floor conditions
– Manually assess the surface of the floor with the fingertips, pressing down firmly in
order to simulate the weight of a person walking.
– Compare the treated area with an untreated area to get a good idea of the different
amount of grip generated.
8. The product is for use without dilution. Apply an even, abundant coat of product with the
preferred tool, making sure to create an even layer to cover the whole surface being treated
9. Leave the product for the amount of time identified in the preliminary test. During this
timeframe, it is important for the surface of the floor to be evenly wetted and covered with a
layer of product. Therefore, as needed, redistribute SAFE MARBLE, applying a further amount.
The presence of areas not covered by product during treatment may cause a final appearance
or an uneven non-slip surface.
10. After the time period identified in the test, remove all excesses, possibly using a liquid
vacuum cleaner and then rinse immediately after with plenty of clean water.
Removal of residues and rinsing with clean water is an operation that needs to be carried out
with care, considering the actual contact time between the product and the surface. Therefore,
begin to remove the product in the point where application of SAFE MARBLE was commenced,
taking care to remove it from the treated area in the same amount of time used to apply it. This
will allow the product to act for the same amount of time over the whole surface.
In order to make the whole treatment application stage easier, it si advisable to proceed in
single areas when the total surface to be treated is very large. The areas must be divided
according to the established contact time. Brief contact times will require small areas to be
treated. In case of longer contact times, it is possible to divide into larger areas.
Drying time
Surfaces treated with SAFE MARBLE are dry once the water used for rinsing is dry.
Opening to floor traffic
Surfaces treated with SAFE MARBLE can be opened to floor traffic once the product has been
completely removed.
