FABER STAR SHINE

STAR SHINE is a high-performance, water-based cream polish for use on granite, porcelain stoneware, quartz, and siliceous materials in general.

STAR SHINE stands out for the deep, vitreous shine it is able to leave on surfaces, as well as its ability to definitively seal and close the pores on materials that were opened during the mechanical polishing process, which is the main cause of dirt build upon this type of surface.

The results achieved with STAR SHINE, both in terms of shine and dirt protection, are also extremely durable and resistant over time. This makes it the ideal solution to polish and maintain surfaces that are usually subject to continuous, intense foot traffic, where the product is also able to increase non-slip resistance on dry floor conditions.

  •  Leaves a great depth of shine on treated surfaces
  •  Drastically reduces the dirt on surfaces
  •  Makes cleaning operations much easier
  •  Does not change the surface hardness of the support
  •  Quick and easy application
  •  Even looking finished results
  •  Increases non-slip properties in dry conditions
  •  Sealing action on material porousness
  •  Increases surface resistance to foot traffic
  •  Polishing of siliceous surfaces with lower use of energy and resources
  •  Water-based product.
  •  Wax free
  •  No defects through overlapping

This product can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces.
This product is suitable for use on: quartz-resin agglomerates, granite, polished porcelain
stoneware.

STAR SHINE is recommended to polish green marble, onyx marble, and all types of marble
where polishing powders do not provide the desired results.

STAR SHINE can also be used to polish sandstone, filled basaltina stone and slates, but only after
treatment with a polisher using ultra-fine grain (above 3000). In this case, a prior waterrepellent treatment may be needed. In case of application to particularly dark materials, we
recommend considering the application of STAR SHINE with the addition of black pigments for a
result with depth and evenness from a point of view of black colour, without the presence of
any white dots. Alternatively, we can recommend the use of K400 BLACK, specifically devised to
leave a full, deep black finish on dark surfaces.

STAR SHINE can also be used to polish the resin part of resin-marble agglomerates, together
with a powder polish treatment using a powder for marble.

STAR SHINE can also be used to buff cement flooring after a mechanical polishing applied to a
surface consolidated with a special consolidating primer (CONCRETE HARDENER)

Single disc machine, which has a power of 2 HP (2.2 HP is preferable); Manual rotary brush.

Faber Chimica is able to supply the WARRIOR single disc machine, which has a power of 2.2 HP,
and is optimised for the correct application of any product

Preparing and cleaning the surface

1. Carefully clean the surface, making sure to remove any dust or dirt present.

2. We recommend proceeding to apply the product in stages, covering surfaces approximately 1
m2 at a time.

3. Never apply STAR SHINE to wet surfaces. STAR SHINE can be used on slightly damp surfaces;
therefore, please ensure that the surface to be treated is as dry as possible.

4. Apply STAR SHINE to surfaces with a temperature of between +5 and +40°C

5. Any adjacent surfaces not being treated with the product must be protected.

Application

STAR SHINE is a white solid compound. It can be returned to its creamy state by shaking the
container. Different consistencies will in no way affect the finished results. The product can be
applied in both its solid or creamy states, since the rotary action of the polishing machine will in
any case return the product to its creamy consistency.

6. Pour a small amount of product directly onto the area to be polished. Generally, about 2/3
spoonfuls of product are enough to polish a surface area of 1 m2.

7. As soon as the product has been poured on, proceed to apply it to the surface using the
single disc machine, fitted with white pad and set to between 150 and 200 r.p.m. Pass the single
disc machine using concentric movements so as to distribute the product evenly over the whole
section being treated.

8. Continue to polish the same area until the product has dried completely (Dry Buffing
technique), taking care to broaden the movements outwards from the centre of the section so
as to cover the whole area evenly.

9. Pass on to the next section, repeating the polishing treatment process as described above.

10. After treating all of the surface areas, remove any steel wool residues from the surface using
a dry or damp cloth, a vacuum cleaner or a broom.

For better shine or to increase the sealing action of the material and therefore, its resistance to
dirt, repeat the application of the product following the same method stated above. Generally,
we recommend treating the same area with 2-3 applications of product, as required. The final
application can be replaced with the application of a finishing product such as K400 for granites,
K500 for quartz and porcelain stoneware, and GQ 500 for all types of surface.

The product formulation will not cause overlap blemishes and therefore, once the maximum
surface shine has been achieved, there will be no difference or defects between the various
areas treated separately.

For buffing after polishing and to restore shine on particularly worn surfaces, treat with at least
2-3 applications of product per area.

For maintenance polishing treat with 1-2 applications of product per area.

Drying time

10. After the product is completely dry, no further waiting time is necessary.

Opening to floor traffic

11. After the product is completely dry, the floor can be opened for use.
