ARTIFICIAL TILE RESTORATION

GENERAL OVERVIEW

An artificial stone can be damaged in a variety of ways depending on the space in which it is placed, resulting in a loss of its factory finish.

It can loose its shining , can have scratches and even stains.

Still it can be restored to a high-gloss luxurious finish with our restoration and polishing service.

STEP 01 - DRY GRINDING

It is common for worn-out floors to have multiple issues on the surfaces as a result of wear. In most stones, there can be uneven joints, uneven grouting, sticky specks of dirt, stains, and even microscopic pours of dirt that accumulate with time, which make the stone lose its shine and rich texture.
To begin with, as part of stone restoration, there will be surface leveling, dirt cleaning, and the opening of the pours as a first step to prepare the stone for the subsequent steps of the process.
This step is called DRY GRINDING, which is done with a QUIX D50 GRIT PAD which contains 50 microns of grit with the help of grinding/polishing machine.
STEP 02 - STAIN REMOVAL
It is important to note that even though the surface issues have been resolved with the DRY GRINDING PROCESS, many stains may still be present.
Natural stones have an inherent ability to absorb stains, which means there is a good chance that the material has absorbed ORGANIC STAINS or INORGANIC STAINS over time.
It is pertinent to note that each type of natural stone has slightly different chemical compositions and a tendency to react differently to various stain substances.
Different FABER products can be used to remove different types of stains from different materials. Product variety such as:
MARGELPLUS: For rust stain removal.
NOMACGEL: For ORGANIC STAIN removals like tea, coffee, and algae stains.
NORUG: Deep penetration rust remover is commonly used on non-sensitive materials/acid-resistant stones such as granite.
POLITIS & OXYDANT: Deep penetration stain remover for stubborn satin, dampness, yellow stain, etc. to be used on non-sensitive materials or acid-resistant stone.
EXTRACTOR: Used to remove surface stains, and watermarks due to humidity and moisture.
NO OIL: To remove stains due to oil, grease, etc.
Note: Product may vary based on the mineral combination of the material, Our experts will guide you on it.
STEP 03 - SEALER APPLICATION

Sealer application is made on the natural stone once the stairs have been removed from it.

This process protects the material from rising dampness or prevents it from absorbing further water or stains. It is done with the help of WHITE 3M PAD with the use of the polishing machine.

There are also different kinds of sealers used based on the requirements.

HIDRO PROTECT MM:  Water based sealer used for white marbles like volkas white, carrara white, statuario etc., and limestones like mocca cream, white wood, grey wood, etc.

This product is eco-friendly, VOC free, and green building council approved, which can expel the water molecule within the materials making it more breathable.

TX8: Water-based sealer used for white marbles like volkas white, carrara white, statuario etc., and limestones like mocca cream, white wood, grey wood, etc. non-eco-friendly,  economical option.

DPS:  Solvant based sealer for deep penetration requirement, non-eco-friendly material more on economic option.

STEP 04 - CRACK AND JOINT FILLING

It is possible that over time because of high traffic and heavy items movement there are some cracks appeared, or even from initial fixing, as well as the joint grouting may have been removed by itself. with FABER products we fix these cracks and joints to close any pores.

There are different types of crack and joint filling compounds

GL80 EPOXY: A low viscosity clear epoxy material to fill the minute cracks and pores.

GL88 : Its a kind of marble glue for bigger cracks, for marble to receive a proper bonding.

STEP 05 - WET GRINDING

The wet grinding is the  initial step of polishing, which is the process of making the marble smoother to receive the final coat of the polish. This grinding is done with different QUIX DIAMOND PADS starting from 100 grit, 200 grit,400 grit,800 grit,1500 grit, and finally 3000 grit.

STEP 06 - FINAL POLISHING

The final polish is the final process to achieve the high gloss finish, Different varieties of FABER materials are used based on the different mineral combinations of the natural stone to achieve the best result.
